That's the project title. The website will be a project exploring the word 'cocaine'. The meaning of the word, its various uses and people's attitudes towards it will all be investigated.

Only one website will be created for this project but in reality if it were to grow other sibling sites would be created such as AllThingsMarijuana.com and AllThingsHeroin.com etc.

The next step is to decide what sections will be included in the website and how the website will ultimately be structured. I will look at a variety of other sites for ideas and then construct several templates which i will show to family and friends. The most popular template will then be used in the final project.

Been doing my research and i think drugs are the way forward. Using Wordtracker I've been looking up some key phrases that will get me the hits i want if i make the number one ranking in Google. There isn't much competition for some of those phrases so hopefully it won't be too hard to get in the top five.

I'm putting together a quick design that i may or may not go with. Next step will be all about content!!!

Home page almost complete

I've been talking to people to get an idea of what they would like to see on a site about traveling around the world and have received some excellent ideas that i hope to incorporate into the final design.

I am toying with an alternative final project, however. It will comprise of three or four individual websites. Each of the sites will specialize in a particular area of a subject and backlink to the other sites in a bid to improve SEO. The copy will also be extremely useful and highly optimized to rank the pages highly in the google search engine for certain key phrases.

The design of the website will be extremely stylish and i will most probably use photos from Flickr for the banner and any other images.

I have already found the key phrases that will be used on one of the sites and am about to find some for the other sites.

This change in direction is by no means definite. At the moment it is an avenue that is simply being investigated.

I've had a look at other sites for inspiration. Forbes and BBC are two sites that i like the look of because they are filled with loads of bite size chunks of information on the Home Page. Each one is hyper linked to further details or the full story.

As my site will ultimately be a source of information for travelers a similar format might be more appropriate.

In terms of putting the site together. I've built up a home page using layers. It reads well in Internet Explorer but not so well in other browsers so i may build the site using tables.

I will also be looking to use CSS to vary the text around the site as well. In the meantime i'm going to look at some award-winning sites on the net to get more ideas.

DAY 1:

Some ideas have been thrown around. I'm going with Round the World Ticket Guide because it ties in with my plans after i finish the degree.

Today I'm creating a quick mock-up of what i think the site will look like. I've created a basic format and am learning how to include an RSS feed. I'll be thinking of other web 2.0 applications that i can include that will be relevant to the site.

I also need to think about how and where i can incorporate my feature.
